Andrew Barrett, 1920-1992

Today would have been my grandfather's 87th birthday. He would have liked this couch.

Relatives arrive

Here I am with my aunt Mary. She flies from the state of Washington to the scenes of family births and builds cabinets, mops floors, and pays for parking and snacks. It's a tremendous service. But what has she done for me lately?

La Leche League

Here is my father's compadre, Alx Meza, and me. He announced that this was his first time feeding a baby. Nice job! See ladies? I am not dead.

I am hit with a pillow

Harrison says:

I was lying on my parents' bed this morning, trying to blend in with the blanketry and pillowry, looking very small. My father walked in and saw a pillow on the floor. Without thinking, he tossed the pillow onto the bed, where it landed on my person. I said nothing, and the situation soon righted itself.

Marty says:

I was wondering what the pillow was doing there. "I'm not paying rent in Los Angeles that I could buy a house on 30 acres with in Vermont for pillows on the floor. This isn't a Japanese tea house," I said. As I sailed the pillow through the air, I glanced at where it would land. Harrison didn't make a sound when it dropped from the sky onto his tiny frame. I was happy it wasn't the pillowcase full of oranges I hit his mother with.

Rebecca says:

I was carrying him in the sling the other day and bonked his head.
